Product Development
- Development of innovative protein powders, pre-workout products, amino acid products, meal replacements, functional powders, and powdered dietary supplements — from the initial idea through to market launch.
- Independent management of development projects, including concept development, formulation, raw material selection, sampling, costing, validation, and commercialization.
- Translation of consumer needs and product briefs into products that are technically feasible, nutritionally compelling, and commercially attractive.
- Development and optimization of formulations with regard to protein sources, active ingredients, flavours, sweeteners, solubility, texture, taste, colour, nutritional profile, and cost.
- Planning and evaluation of product samples, tastings, sensory tests, production trials, and optimization cycles.
- Optimization of existing products through reformulations, new flavour variants, raw material changes, and product relaunches.
- Identification of relevant consumer, ingredient, flavour, nutrition, and performance trends.
- Monitoring of new raw materials, protein sources, active ingredients, flavours, technologies, and product concepts in the sports nutrition sector.
- Conducting market, category, and competitor analyses to identify new product opportunities.
- Translating trends and insights into concrete innovation and product concepts.
- Continuous development of the powder portfolio with a focus on differentiation, optimization, and growth.
- Active contribution to the innovation pipeline and future category development.
- Acting as the central interface between external partners and internal teams across Quality, Procurement, Marketing, and Sales.
- Coordinating timelines, samples, documentation, costs, and decision-making processes across multiple development projects.
- Managing product cost calculations, target costs, and commercial evaluations in close collaboration with Procurement.
- Ensuring technically feasible and commercially scalable formulations together with manufacturing partners.
- Participating in supplier meetings, production trials, and relevant industry trade fairs.
- Reviewing formulations, ingredients, dosages, nutritional information, claims, declarations, and packaging text.
- Ensuring compliance with the EU Food Information to Consumers Regulation (LMIV/FIC) and other relevant European food-law requirements.
- Maintaining product specifications, formulations, ingredient information, and relevant development documentation.
- Working closely with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure product safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Supporting reformulations, raw material changes, root cause analyses, and continuous product improvement.
Your skillset - as strong as our protein
- Degree or comparable qualification in Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition Science, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- Relevant professional experience in product development or R&D, ideally within sports nutrition, dietary supplements, functional foods, or powdered food products.
- Strong understanding of powder and dry-blend formulations, raw material functionality, and relevant manufacturing processes.
- Good knowledge of protein sources, amino acids, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, functional ingredients, flavours, and sweeteners.
- Experience in formulation development, product sampling, sensory evaluation, solubility and product testing, as well as production trials.
- Good knowledge of relevant food-law and regulatory requirements.
- Confident handling of product costing, target costs, and commercial evaluations.
- Fluent English; German language skills are an advantage.
- Willingness to travel for supplier meetings, production trials, and industry events.
